At present, the basic salary of an MP is Rs 50,000 per month and a stipend of Rs 5,000 is paid. Apart from this some other benefits are also given. The government spends about Rs 3.5 lakh per MP per month. On the other hand, the government has increased the salaries of the President, Vice-President and Governors, following which a salary of Rs 5 lakh per month will now be given.The announcement was made by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while presenting the budget. He said the last change in the salaries of the president and vice-president and governor was in 2007. According to the amendments made by the government, the President will now be paid Rs 5 lakh, the Vice President Rs 4 lakh and the Governor Rs 2.5 lakh per month.
