Link Aadhaar with PAN Card -Check Status




Deadline for PAN-Aadhaar linking is ending on 31st March 2023 that means if you fail to link you PAN card with your 12-digit unique identification number, your PAN would become inoperative from next month. Apart from this, end of march would mean end of current financial year as well. So, there are several other financial tasks like, submission of updated income tax return (ITR) filing for AY 2020-21, advance tax payment and tax saving investments, which needs to be completed by end of this month. In fact, last date for advance tax payment is 15th March 2023 and it needs to be done on a urgent basis.




PAN-Aadhaar link: After giving series of extension to Aadhaar-PAN linking deadline, the Income Tax Department set

31st March 2023 as new deadline for seeding the two important KYC documents. As per the Income Tax Department, one's PAN card would become inoperative from 1stt April 2023, if it is not attached with one's Aadhaar card. PAN-Aadhaar linking is free till 31st March 2023 while from 1st April 2023, it would incur PAN Aadhaar link fee of ₹1,000.Submission of updated ITR: The last date for submission of updated ITR for FY 2019-20 or AY 2020-21 is 31st March 2023. It should be noted by taxpayers that they won't be able to file update ITR if they fail to meet this deadline of 31st March 2023. 3] Advance tax payment: As per the Income Tax Department, the last instalment of advance tax for FY23 must be submitted by 15th March 2023. 



According to the Income-Tax Act, a person must pay advance tax if their projected tax liability is ₹10,000 or more after Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) deductions. 4] Tax saving investment: As end of March means end of the financial year too, an earning individual whose annual income is more than basic income in income tax slab needs to look at investment avenues like Public Provident Fund (PPF), ELSS Mutual Fund, tax saving bank FD, etc.Submission of updated ITR: The last date for submission of updated ITR for FY 2019-20 or AY 2020-21 is 31st March 2023. e-Pay Tax functionality available on e-filing Portal if you have Axis Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Federal Bank, ICICI Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Karur Vysya Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank accounts- i. Visit the e-Pay Tax page on the Income Tax e-Filing website. ii. Enter your PAN, confirm PAN and mobile number to get an OTP. iii. After OTP verification, you will be redirected to a page showing different payment tiles iv. Click on the “Proceed” button on the Income Tax tile. v. Choose the AY as 2023-24 and the Type of Payment – as other Receipts (500) and click on “Continue”. vi. Fill in the amount as Rs. 1000 under “Others” field in tax break-up and proceed to make the payment. Or B. NSDL (now Protean) portal under Major head (0021) and Minor head (500) for AY 2023-24 if you have any other bank account i. Visit the e-Payment for TIN (egov-nsdl.com) to pay the late fee Rs. 500/1000 as the case may be. ii.

Under the non-TDS/TCS category, click on “Proceed” button under Challan no./ITNS 280. iii. You will see a challan which will have major (0021) and minor head (500). iv. Fill in the required details (PAN, AY, mode of payment etc) and make payment of the exact amount (i.e., Rs. 500/1000) through a single challan. Also, the challan for fee payment should be with the AY 2023-24 only. Step 2: Submit the Aadhaar linking request on e-Filing portal after 4-5 working days of making payment on NSDL (now Protean) portal. The detailed steps for the same are as follows: i. Visit the e-filing portal > Login > On the Dashboard, under the Link Aadhaar to PAN option, click on “Link Aadhaar” or click on “Link Aadhar” in the personal details section
